There's a lot that needs to change about the food system and how we relate to food, but that MAHA bullshit isn't going to help anything. Health grifters, labor exploiters, and finance parasites aren't going to address food deserts, unsustainable farming methods, and public health in any good ways.

I have started teaching Sara Ahmed’s the organization of hate routinely as I deal with a decidedly more right wing student body post Covid and nothing has been more effective. To explain that love- of a sovereign community abstract, unreal and narrowly defined- is the beginning of hate is effective.

Nature is cruel. Perhaps the ultimate tradeoff is cold, inescapable Natural Selection? Cruel, abusive, and avoidable... But maybe that lesson needs to be learned firsthand by the people refusing to listen to collective learned science 😔
I legit think the cynical promotion of this this is one of the most brazen acts of public evil I’ve ever seen because there is *no tradeoff* in any way that counts, there’s no complicated externality, it’s just fucking letting people, mainly children die for the hell of it.

was right after 9/11, when all news outlets just kept playing clips of the burning towers over and over, day after day. Week after week.

The problem with pieces like this, which are countless, is the prevailing media assumption that left-of-center Americans need constant corrective instruction about how to be in and engage with the world, whereas right-of-center Americans are simply to be observed in awe, like rainbows or mountains.
