Sports Medal Recycling
@medalrecycling.bsky.social
We recycle extra, unused and no-longer-wanted race/sports medals and academic medals and recycle them; proceeds go to charity fundraising minimums for charity road race entries in marathons, rides and walks. www.sportsmedalrecycling.com
Do you recognize your shirt(s)? When people send in medals and use clothing as packaging (instead of bubble wrap or packaging paper), we wash and dry the clothing and donate it to a local shelter.

Here is our latest list of medal shipments we are working on. This is everything from our last update through last weekend. Sorry if we got your location wrong- we sometimes the labels are smeared or torn.

A reminder- do not be scammed- our location is MA, USA. We do NOT have any locations or branches in other countries. If someone is using our name or sounds like us and they're in another country- it is not us! We have found two cases of scammers pretending to be us.

How do people hear about us?

Entirely through word of mouth, referrals, and social media. We do not spend any money on promotions or advertising. Our two costs are 1) a website and 2) our receiving inbox. This lets us maximize what we donate.

When people use old clothes (t-shirts, tech shirts, towels) as packing materials- we wash them, dry them, and donate them to local nonprofits that give them directly to people in need.

These are the hooks, rings, chains and other metal items attached to your medals or ribbons. These are removed and separated as items go off to their respective recycling locations. And these are recycled as well!

We are happy to share we’re all caught up with recycling and processing items received as of today! We have two more metal drop off runs to make in May and June, and more textile recycling in June.

Unwanted, reusable clean shirts make great packaging padding materials. We sort through them, check to make sure they can be used/worn, wash and dry them, and donate them to a local healthcare facility that services clients in need.

We'd like to recognize some amazing race organizers that shipped in their unused event medals for recycling!

Lay It Out Events has been working with us for a few years now.

Fishers Running Club in Fishers, IN sent us their unused medals from their race series.

Thank you for your partnership!

Tomorrow we are dropping off your medal ribbons for textile recycling! Do you recognize your bags? Since they are also cloth/textile, they are recycled as well. Cinch bags are a HUGE help and they make great padding/packing materials.

Today we made a textile (ribbon) drop off. Normally we try to only use the cloth bags people send their medals in, but with our current backlog and spread-out volunteers we had to use some plastic bags to transport everything. Each plastic bag weighs about 15 pounds.

Thank you to @rhoderaces.bsky.social and the Cape Cod Marathon for their partnership! We picked up their unused/extra medals from 2024 events and are recycling them now.
