This makes me so sad
For the first time in its history, the annual CLPE #ReflectingRealities survey, funded by Arts Council England, reports an overall drop in the percentage of racially minoritised characters featured in published children’s books reviewed – from 30% in 2022 to 17% in 2023

And that's a wrap on One County, One Book events! 📚

I'm so grateful to Cork County Council for the tremendous work they did in getting my book out to readers. It was an honour to partake in the many events this month, inc a conversation with @mikemcgb.bsky.social today. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!

Have thoroughly enjoyed One County, One Book celebrations in Cork this week, and am very grateful to Cork CoCo for their work in getting the initiative off the ground. Librarians liased with schools around the county and organised events for hundreds of students this month. Mo cheol sibh 🥰

Festivities are GO in Cork this week for One County, One Book 🤩📚

Have had a wonderful few weeks meeting readers and talking all things books and writing. It's a huge privilege to be this year's chosen author 💛

Freya is this year's One Book, One School, One Community title in Newbridge College 📚

First Year students AND their parents are reading the book together. What a cool initiative 🥰

A pleasure to attend the launch of this last week 💛

Learned today that my 4-month old self was an honorary graduate of Trinity and Harvard back in the 90s, having taken part in a bizarre cross-cultural study about behavioural differences between Dublin and Boston babas.

Adding it to my academic CV tbh. 10/10 niche credential

This looks amazing! How lucky we are to have such huge talent representing Irish children's literature today @daveruddenwrites.bsky.social 🤩
IT'S AAAAAALIVE!

My brand-new MG series, TALES OF DARKISLE, pits gorgeously weird Irish folklore against some wonderfully weird kids.

Book 1 - CONN OF THE DEAD - is set in UCD, has a very tech-savvy necromancer wreaking havoc, and will be attempting to zombify your shelves next year!
