Dang! This is so me.

We have stone stairs with a varied texture. If I so much as blink, it takes a second or two for my eyes and brain to identify the edges again. And it completely disrupts my depth perception.
The stair, which vanishes from your memory whenever you forget to actively concentrate on its existence, was ruled to be maliciously attempting to murder you, having deemed you unworthy of treading on it.

My mask makes it so that I always put the comfort of other people ahead of my own. It's something that I'm working on a bit every day because how I feel mentally and physically matters to me.

I hope you know that your comfort matters too. 💜

I need to vent.

I don't enjoy small talk, but I can usually cope with it OK, and even engage with it shallowly. But there's one type of small talk that really irritates me: the preamble to someone asking me to do something for them. Even then I usually manage to mask through it.

But not today.

I was watching Brené Brown: The Call to Courage on Netflix. (Thanks for the suggestion, @tralin.ca!) One of the key points is that you can't have courage without vulnerability; without uncertainty, risk, or emotional exposure. She talks about several Myths of Vulnerability.

As a self-diagnosed/realized/identified autistic, I agree 100%!
This might be the hill I die on... We all have a right to know ourselves better and seek out answers that help us live our lives as best as we can.

My best friend asked if there were autism self assessments, and what were the indications that made me think I'm autistic. She's wondering if she's autistic.

I am positively vibrating with excitement and joy! I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Spent an evening having dinner and playing games with my best friend of 40+ years, and her husband. We don't see each other in person very often, so seeing her face, hearing her voice, a hug hello, and a hug goodbye, all brought me tremendous joy!

The truth of the matter is, autistic children learn to mask, and will modify their behaviour based on your demands, means you might think you have taught them to overcome their autistic traits.

You ain't.

What you have done is you've forced them to comply at a high cost to their mental health.

@courtneyliterally.bsky.social I was just on your Amazon page, and noticed the title: "Gadgets and Gizmos Aplenty!" That should have come as no surprise, but yet it did. I just wanted you to know it made my evening. I'm definitely a Little Mermaid fan (you should see our Christmas tree...).

I wish Beats Studio Pro had a mode that was part noise cancelling and part transparency. I want to be able to hear external sounds, but at a reduced volume, and without sounding muffled.

Alas, my tactile sensory sensitivity makes ear plugs or buds in the ear canal unusable.

I just finished Day 25 of the #100DaysOfSwiftUI at www.hackingwithswift.com/100/swiftui/25 via @twostraws.bsky.social.

This project just begged to use an enum (for rock, paper, or scissors). Add a method to see if one object beats another. And make it a view so that it can be displayed in the UI.
