I am watching MATERIALISTS on someone else’s screen on a plane. They have the subtitles on. I assumed it was a bad French film, and when I did, it worked better.

As someone who was scolded and harassed and death threated for years bc of my journalism sins—and I was never a journalist!—maybe journalistic ethics were never the point, and this industry is just bullying and harassment and bullshit as it fights for last scraps of attention.
It’s really dismaying to see Olivia Nuzzi get any press coverage at all at this point. Have some fucking dignity, editors.

That's odd—just a few days ago he was certain it was all a Democratic hoax. I wonder what changed?

Tonight is your very last chance to see RESISTANCE. Tickets are nearly sold out for the run. I've turned on PWYC tickets for these last few, because I'm cool like that and I want everyone who wants to see it to have a chance. When they are gone, they are gone! tickets.frigid.nyc/event/6897:1...

Exactly. I hold the entire caucus responsible, starting with Schumer and heading on down from there. Those who don't want to be counted that way will have to prove it. Not many will.
The thing @schumer.senate.gov appears to be doing where he gets everybody who’s retiring or was just sworn in to a six-year term to vote yes so he and a bunch more moderates can vote “no” to appear more progressive than they are is so insulting lol

Schumer: "However this vote turns out, this fight will and must continue. Democrats must fight."

At least Trump is openly a monster.

Schumer, Gillibrand, Kaine—they pretend they aren't, but are even more monstrous by cosigning the monster's wishes.

This takes a clear victory, and turns it into a defeat. It signals weakness and submission.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

In a few hours we’ll have a big Saturday night show—the run is flying by! It’s admittedly a niche topic, but if you’ve been thinking about resistance vs complicity, or if fascism is something you can feel on the back of your neck, this might be the place. Tickets: tickets.frigid.nyc/event/6897:1...

The dramatic repudiation of Trump this week wrecks a number of absurd narratives the media has pushed lately. In the runup to the election, NYT pieces kept telling us Dems were overly obsessed with attacking Trump.

That dumb idea now lies in ruins. 1/

It is really important to remember that the thumb is absolutely always on the scale against us. I find I have to remind myself, because I default toward good faith.

(I mean, it's Douthat—I am just speaking generally, I'm not a masochist.)
The New York Times quickly sending out Douthat to argue that Mamdani’s victory doesn’t really matter is so predictable it borders on self-parody.

Remember, folks: Every time the Right wins an election, it’s an undeniable expression of the will of the people. If a lefty wins, it’s just a blip.

Amazing to see these liars pull this when they follow a guy who says down is up and massive tariffs work and prices are falling and we have always been at war with Eastasia.
