Building on that point, Dr. Roberts discussed an alternative approach: using the same large language model multiple times and in different ways. This enables researchers to more effectively surface and work with the information already embedded in the model. #LLMK #MSBMI #AI #NLP #UTHealth #TMC

Dr. Roberts shares concerns about how large language models are typically evaluated. He explained that standard prediction methods often fail to fully use the information encoded in these models, and that evaluation results may reflect only a lower bound of their true potential. #NLP #LLM #AI#MSBMI

Since the early days of NLP, both linguistics and labeled data have been crucial. In the 1980s, LLMs were first developed to reduce reliance on linguists. Today, while labeled data remains important, the growth of LLMs has led to immense uncertainty about the future of linguistics in this field.

LLMs can make everyone an NLP expert- or can it?
Dr. Roberts believes accessibility is NOT the same as expertise. While people can do something, does that mean they really know how to do it correctly? #NLP #LLM #AI #BiomedicalInformatics #Informatics #UTHealth #MSBMI #TMC #Largelanguagemodel
