Never say that your work sucks. Even if it IS terrible. Don't phrase it that way. Say that 'it needs work'. Because anything can be edited, tweaked, or modified to be better than it currently is. Anything can be fixed. Putting yourself down solves nothing.

Need a character to leave a scene for a bit? Don't overcomplicate it. There's a million reasons why someone might need to step away. For example, using the washroom or taking a phone call. You don't need to create some convoluted excuse to make it work.

It can be tempting to write your favorite character as making the correct moves in any circumstance. But that's unrealistic and boring. Have them make mistakes. Have them make decisions based on emotion rather than pure logic. Let them screw up.

At the start of ARR, Matthew was stubborn, temperamental, and sometimes took things (and people) for granted. But he was still well-meaning.
Now Matthew’s a better, wiser, happier person that values his loved ones deeply.

Being a skinny lala from Tuliyollal, Matthew HATES the cold. But he’s gotten used to bundling up when necessary.
Since moving to Eorzea, Lyla’s still been getting used to cold weather, and she’s proving NOT to be a fan. Not until recently has she had to bundle up. She’s too used to showing skin.
