MAGfest was a dream come true. Now I am back in the Hellscape that is Minneapolis right now. My city is beautiful and I’m super proud of it but right now I do not feel safe. If you know anybody from MN, they need your support right now. Even just a text to say that you’re thinking of them 😭

I actually want to rant on this for a bit because really, the downfall was Unreal Engine. Before companies started adopting a single central engine we had a huge variety of interesting solutions to 3d graphics and physics questions.
Some were... Not great, but they all had their own charms!

I started playing Sonic '06 last week for the first time and one thing that struck (and keeps striking) me is how little the graphics meaningfully differ from a 2015 or 2025 release.
Graphics tech hit "we do everything with triangles" and stagnated terribly.

I bought a second hand mega drive last week, along with a knockoff copy of Sonic 3.
Today I managed to get it working through HDMI, looking real nice - and best of all, got sonic 3 working!
By uh... Pulling the cart out while powered on, putting it back in and restarting the unit???
