What happened to the President of The Kennedy Center for the performing Arts in Washington after Trump fired her? She is now Vice Provost for the Arts at Duke University.

“For the Good of Us.” Research must go on despite deep, devastating cuts and the blind eye to humanities’ needs currently occupying the people’s house.

Our personal libraries cannot be bought. They will continue to expose truths and lies where they are found.

An Ellison takeover is probably the worst of all outcomes, but it still feels like cheering for Godzilla beating out King Kong. Either will flatten the city in the end. This much power and media consolidation is bad for everyone but the shareholders.

Ellison can’t buy Warner brothers!! Now they want to control the movie/entertainment/arts business too? And Thump is putting his thumb on the scale indicating he can give contender Netflix obstacles to their Warner Brothers buy.

Reproductive rights groups do NOT want the Quebec government to enshrine abortion rights in the province's proposed constitution. First, it's not really a constitution - it's a regular law that can be amended. And that would turn it into an anti-choice weapon to restrict abortion.
Why Quebec’s plan to enshrine abortion rights is raising alarms
Civil society groups are warning that the Legault government’s plan to enshrine abortion rights in Quebec’s proposed constitution could have unintended consequences.

as an example, do they really believe the french are any less french for being in the EU? or the Dutch and less Dutch? They live in a transactional world where they look after No.1... the rest of us are in a real world.

The EU is the result of countries representing the needs of *their people. Musk's life has been lived on other continents; Bannon's also.

These disturbed, malformed men aren't useful to the species.

As a Brit, I’ll just say that Brexit was the single biggest self-own in our economic and political history. We were collectively conned by the evil version of Mr Toad (Farage), and the poshest malevolent clown to ever pratfall around 10 Downing Street (Johnson) and we’re paying for it every day.

Today’s “One First” tackles the grant of certiorari in one of the birthright citizenship cases, and then Justice Kagan’s TX redistricting dissent—“yet another warning about the majority’s seeming willingness to do … whatever it wants, at least where rulings on emergency applications are concerned.”
196. Justice Kagan's Texas Redistricting Dissent
As unsurprising as the Supreme Court's intervention in the Texas redistricting case may have been, Justice Kagan's dissent is still a telling indictment of another emergency ruling that lost its way.

We thought Tricky Dick was bad. I’ll take Watergate Nixon over felony criminal convictions Trump any day of the week.

And to think we were all appalled when Tricia Nixon managed a Whitehouse wedding in the Rose Garden when her snooping, tape eraser dad was President. How times have changed and our sensitivities have been shot to hell.
I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about Don Jr receiving a massive loan for his startup from the Pentagon. I guess when there’s so much corruption some things fly under the radar?

Here’s what he’s missing:

We have a president calling immigrants “garbage” and affordability a hoax, a DOD secretary cosplaying war games with no accountability, a VP saying it’s “reasonable” to not want neighbors who speak another language, and a Speaker who believes women are inferior.

The GOP.

Health insurers are jacking up premiums while raking in billions in profits.

Expiring ACA subsidies will saddle millions of Americans with massive monthly premium increases.

Is it any wonder that 63% of Americans now support Medicare for All?

Some say it is illegal to arrest a sitting president. It is not. The president is subject to the law like everyone. That none have been arrested in the U.S. is only a policy internal to the DOJ based on the need for continuity of government operations--a policy that never imagined a criminal POTUS.

This is some of the worst and most lasting damage this reckless Trump/republican regime has caused.
“…Even if they are able to clean up his mess … elect a supremely sane president next, America will NEVER again be a trusted partner. Because there are enough Americans who would vote for him … (again).

I couldn't even say anything. She was right. The damage this has done is endless…”

Fareed Zakaria’s GPS show this morning on the topic of the Trump Crypto currency conflict of interests is worth watching. Trump family wealth increase in just one year is just astonishing considering the related Trump favorable policy changes.
