That other platform was always a place for me to jot down emerging ideas - to see how humans & the algorithm responded. Apparently, I miss that. So back on @bsky.app with some thoughts about #AI making #digital ads even more #math driven while #AEO begins unravelling how mathy #content has become 🤔

How long before someone sees this heat map from @hbr.org & blasts out the headline " #contentcreators live in big cities"? (That's not what it means.) 🤦😶

Useful reminder of how biased the #trainingdata and #systemdesign are. Working overtime to combat that every day in my prompts - mostly by very narrowly defining the sources #AI should use

Well, well, well—look who suddenly cares about fair use in AI.
OpenAI sees the downside of 'fair use' now that DeepSeek may have used OpenAI’s data
OpenAI and Microsoft are said to be investigating whether China's DeepSeek stole its data. Such a fight would be beyond ironic.

So far according to @digital-science.com @altmetric.com data there have been over 204m Tweets and just over 1m Skeets on @bsky.app tied to research.
It's very early days and the trend is shows X is losing power as a means to share research.
You can see the steady decline in Tweets since Musk. 1/5

Why is "Have a plan" the most consistent advice I see given by business coaches? Have the vast majority of people been indoctrinated with "anti-plan" propaganda? Is there some book/podcast/show/influencer disparaging planning that everyone has seen but me? Explain, please. 🤔

Difficult to know where to start today. I anticipated *Shock and Awe* on his first day in office, but I didn't anticipate how many of these shocks and those awes were going to impact my industry #marketing #advertising 😕😲

Well, that was fast. Hopped on TikTok last night (Sunday), and it was restored. Getting a little ahead of themselves, though - inauguration day is today.

Underacknowledged variable -> culture (and incidentally attachment to culture) plays a significant role in impact (also decoding messaging.)

Love this example. Tapped into this when I was at #AvocadosFromMexico working on a campaign to increase usage
What is dynamic optimization? It’s deciding what percentages of the bananas you buy should be very ripe, moderately ripe, and unripe.

"Bottom line: This analysis confirms for me that Bluesky is a more reliable platform for seeing the content you want... Its lack of algorithm means that engagement here depends on YOU! "

Lots of discussion in the comments about FB too - which I expect will get dramatically worse.
I compared 22 identical climate-related posts on Threads vs Bluesky over the last 3 months, and the difference is shocking.

Normalized engagement on Threads dropped nearly 2/3 + my following dropped, while Bluesky engagement held steady + following quadrupled.

What’s driving this?

Wake-up call for #digital marketers

A/B testing is a victim of #ScopeCreep –it was never intended to do more than test creative targeted to the same audience. Somewhere along the way, it became the substitute for any and all market research.

i.e. most sales are at brick and mortar - 83.8% The devil is in the details-I run into entrepreneurs all the time who put all of their effort into maximizing sales through their website because it's *cheaper* rather than supporting their retail placement where 95% of their category sales are made
E-commerce now makes up 16.2% of US retail sales, nearly doubling since 2019. We’ve moved from asking, ‘Can I buy this online?’ to ‘Why wouldn’t I?’

What's next? Seamless experiences where discovery and purchase happen in one place (think TTS).

Worth a read – #demographic impacts on retail/leisure, suburban tax base, #JOLTS.

My 2 fav graphs are below - I love to see trips per day for retail - I'd expect more trips per day for shopping to - just to get out of the house. #WFH

I’ve been subscribing to a bunch of AI newsletters for almost 2 years. Great for keeping up with developments, but every once in a while, someone crystalizes what I have been thinking – such as this recent post by addyosmani.bsky.social for @pragmaticengineer.com

Just substitute your use case!

We all know various different platforms have been engaging in this for years. (Though we tittered about it, deep inside, we all knew we were the *product*.)
