Something new for me:

I am taking part in the Hampton Court Half Marathon on Sunday 23rd March and raising money for Crisis, a national charity addressing homelessness.

Your donations would make a big difference. Thank you!

Extraordinary: Raoult’s damaging paper on hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 finally retracted.

So grateful to all the people who helped with the RECOVERY trial, allowing us to debunk the myth of hydroxychloroquine for severe COVID-19 (& to discover treatments that went on to save thousands of lives)

Sometimes the only rational response is “Wow!”

There are some mighty people out there, working together and transforming our scientific understanding.

Amazing!

Also from the Faster Cures conference:

Regulation (clinical trials, AI and more) must:

1. Protect patients and participants from harm (I’d argue that harm can only be considered in context of benefit)

2. Preserve flexibility for discovery, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Just heading home from Faster Cures conference in DC. Great speakers, including many past & present federal health agency leaders and politicians.

But quote of the week goes to Ashwin Vasan (ex-Health Commissioner, New York):

“Health is Freedom!”

Well said.
