This #FungiFriday marks the opening of Kew’s new #CarbonGarden! With its big mushroom centrepiece, we thought we would dig into Fungi’s indispensable role in carbon storage; through nutrient cycling, soil formation, and as symbionts with plants 🍄🍄🟫

Happy #Pride month! This #FungiFriday we are going on a fungal foray through the pride flag. There have been many iterations since its original conception in 1978, including the Intersex-Inclusive flag by Valentino Vecchietti – which we have recreated in fungal fashion for the LGBTQ myco-maniacs

What if an island’s future lived in its soil?

On Great & Little Tobago (BVI), goats trampled native plants - compacting soil, eroding topsoil, and stopping seedlings from taking root.

But hope lives on in our work with local partners to uncover native seeds hidden beneath the surface.

Yesterday was #WorldFrogDay but we're still thinking about it this #FungiFriday, specifically, Chytrid fungi!

The best known is Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, a pathogen that’s a significant driver of declining amphibian populations 🐸📉

Yet this diverse group is more than its bad reputation! 🧵👇
