Is this bad? I mean, offhand, I'd say it kind of seems bad.

“Our oaths did not expire simply because we took off the uniform.”

Former Navy pilot Ken Harbaugh shares a powerful Veterans Day message about service, sacrifice, and what real patriotism means — inspired by Marine Master Sgt. Mike “Top” Washington.
A Different Kind of Patriotism
Today, more than ever, America needs its veterans to remember that their oaths to the Constitution do not expire.

It’s almost as if it really wasn’t about ensuring fairness and accuracy. Huh. The more you know.
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

Dem Sen. Andy Kim to me after Senate vote: “What just happened in the Senate chamber was an absolute disgrace. I can't stress it enough,” saying it’s “very profoundly disturbing” to see bill passed in chamber where McCain voted to block repeal. “I'm just really gutted right now.”

Update: In 3 recent editorials, WaPo failed to disclose owner Jeff Bezos's interest in the matter under discussion.

WaPo added one disclosure after @bgrueskin.bsky.social called it out.

Two weeks after my story, the other two editorials still have none. And the paper still won't say why
'Washington Post' editorials omit a key disclosure: Bezos' financial ties
Three times in the past two weeks, editorials at the 'Washington Post' failed to disclose that they focused on matters in which owner Jeff Bezos had a material interest.

@shaheen.senate.gov @kaine.senate.gov and the rest of you: this is the answer. Why couldn’t you listen to the loud and clear message voters across the nation sent you last week instead of a handful of constituents who were, no doubt, large donors with plenty of adequate healthcare?
Ask Trump
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"
November 10, 2025 at 10:50 PM
@shaheen.senate.gov That YOU don’t know how to answer that question says everything about you and your fellow seven Senators not understanding the moment we are in and how to protect us, the rule of law, our healthcare, and our democracy.

Adam Kissinger had the correct answer: “Ask Trump.”
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Absolutely correct
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.
