Exciting! The Belle experiment sees evidence for a charmonium strange pentaquark that was seen by LHCb in baryon decays. They see it in Y(2S) decays, do not in weak decays of the b quark. A very different production mechanism. Congratulations! ⚛️🧪

@hannahdevlin.bsky.social just published a great interview with Mark Thomson in the Guardian. We can't write "AI to revolutionise fundamental physics and ‘could show how universe will end’" in the Courier, but related themes emerged when he sat down with us last year: cerncourier.com/a/a-word-wit...
A word with CERN’s next Director-General – CERN Courier
Mark Thomson, CERN's Director General designate for 2025, talks to the Courier about the future of particle physics.

That makes four editions published since I took over as editor — and my favourite page to work on is still the cover

76 new particles have been discovered at the LHC so far: the Higgs boson, 52 conventional hadrons and a bestiary of 23 exotic hadrons whose structure cannot reliably be explained or their existence predicted.

If you're sketchy about the 23...

When I was a post doc, I was a huge nerd for unfolding — essentially the "zoom and enhance" trope in films, where you remove distortions from data
