The ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia is over and both sides are sliding towards open war along their disputed border. Today Thailand has been striking Cambodian positions with F16s, drones and mortar.

Another one Trump was supposed to have “solved”.

🧵 This year’s stocking-filler chapbook in aid of Doctors Without Borders is The Adventure of the Seven Unnatural Women, a Sherlock Holmes story written at the invitation of J R Campbell and Charles Prepolec, editors of the Gaslight series of Holmes anthologies

The ‘seven unnatural women’ of the title are a self-sufficient colony in a manor house on the Romney Marshes, regarded with deep suspicion by the local men while providing quiet support and occasional refuge to the womenfolk. The tale is mostly narrated by Holmes himself, as he tells it to Watson

The slender 58-page paperback is produced in a similar style to 2021’s The Governess, channeling the layout and look of those dusty Edwardian volumes you can sometimes find in the more magical old bookshops

Here is Pete Hegseth, on several occasions in 2016, lauding the military "ethos" that means they will refuse to follow unlawful orders - which he reckons is treason, now that they are his orders - because "there have to be consequences for abject war crimes".

Deserves to go viral.

The Trump administration's foreign policy strategy attacks allies including the UK & has been enthusiastically greeted by the Kremlin. Last month, the USA announced a 'peace deal' the Kremlin had written.

And in the UK, the media is full of people still wibbling about 'Trump Derangement Syndrome'.
