The EAA votes are out

The great majority of our archaeological community has voted in favour of the petitions raised by #concernedEAA. We asked for a democratic process, we asked for accountability, and for the need to acknowledge the horrific genocidal policy of Israel against Gaza.

EAA is finished. Time for a new organisation.
Yesterday I resigned from the EAA Appeals & Anti-Harassment Committee (AAHC) after I was targetted in what I believe was an attempt to disprupt & undermine the AAHC. Be assured, AAHC are v much committed to making EAA a safe space, despite the restrictions imposed on them by the existing statutes. 🏺

Back home after @tag2025york.bsky.social. A good conference; great sessions, spot-on keynotes, and really well organised. Was great to meet old friends and make new connections.

TAG York: Very interesting session today on archaeology and neoliberalism, led by @haraldfred.bsky.social @drsadiewatson.bsky.social @rachelking.bsky.social and Pippa Postgate. As @guillermodiazliano.bsky.social noted, neoliberalism is the dominant paradigm in archaeology. Lots to think about!

Perfidious Albion in practice: first we come for your beloved XXL sports shop, then take control over your frigates, and so the coup de grâce impose our climate on you!
Da jeg var barn var en av mine reelle fremtidsfrykter at vi skulle få britisk vinter som jeg så på tv. Kaldt, vått, grått, trist.

Vel. Nå er vi her da. Og det er akkurat så kjipt som jeg så for meg.

I am going to submit this as my comments to my work's new AI guidelines. Looking forward to all the light and whimsical archaeology reports coming in the next few years.

Went to listen to Anders Högberg talk about heritage futures at Riksantikvaren. It was a bit of a shock to realize how little of this research and modern thoughts about heritage have filtered down to the decision-making level. Concerning given a new heritage law is being written.

We are very sad to hear the news of Mike Corbishley's passing.

Mike was a long-time supporter of the CBA and co-founder of YAC. We’ll be celebrating Mike’s life and contributions in an upcoming issue of British Archaeology.

As someone who is about to be affected by the new ILR rules, I took little comfort from the PM's speech yesterday. I can't speak for everyone affected but I certainly feel the message of these rules is that no one from other countries is welcome here and will only be accepted begrudgingly
