I'm a movie fan and physical media collector. I mostly enjoy pre-code, lower budget and harder to find films. I'm on Letterboxed too. I lean left and believe in basic human rights for everyone!
It's a comedy and I laughed, so that's a good thing. Watched Penny Serenade about a month ago. Next up, My Favorite Wife.

I was a kid, but I remember the horrors of, duck and cover, Kent State,Vietnam etc. This has some top notch directors talking about growing up in a cold war world and how it affected their views and their film making. For a more in-depth review see Letterboxd.

Not bad, but it's hard to judge when all I can find is a 68 minute version. The original running time is 73. The copy I found had missing scenes and the audio was atrocious. I realize that this has fallen into public domain, but that's no reason to let it fade into obscurity.

Modern filmmakers owe a lot to Georges Méliès. He created movie magic. George does in a few minutes what many directors can't do in two hours. He coveys an idea, telling a story, no CGI or AI needed, because they hadn't been invented in 1896.

My review is on Letterboxd. It's too long to post here.

4 Stars, watched 3/2/25
Good movie but it's not your average Hitchcock or Fonda film.
Everything about how the police handled things things back then was wrong. So things really haven't changed much.
