I'm just imagining various "dark age" plastics, possibly some Greek or Roman heads (or at least the crests) the odd fantasy detail.

It's crossed my mind a few times that a second age Tolkien project could be fun but looking at some artistic interpretations of things in the third age again, well...

I just got into the Sharpe series and found most of them second hand so I've got about 20 of them still to go! Given my recent rate of reading I should finish them around 2050.

Just got a bunch of my books out from my old room. Still a daunting amount to do but it feels good to have these with me again. I now have 3 copies of Lord of the rings in the house which is as it should be! Quite a few 40k novels here too.

I've had some free ones with WI and kept a few from previous projects so these are made with SS, PzGren, DAK, Fallschirmjager, some original Heer set and a few "Blitzkrieg" bits. They should have a proper later war veteran look.
Or be a mess. Either way good enough.

I'm just taken with the paint variety for the most part.
And in the case of the SS it's quite unique look and I haven't got any late war Germans done yet (other than some 15mm armour).

But to be fair the games would be a bit lame without having the other side to play against.
Painting Confederates was unusually fun though. (Not sure I'm going to enjoy pea dot etc as much)!

I've made about 8 of my SS platoon now and I have to say the various Warlord sprues all mix together well. Just a couple of awkward angles here and there for paired arms but nothing too bad.
Now, much like when I was painting Confederates, I have to watch my phrasing when I say "I'm liking the SS"!

Thanks. Yeah, it's my mom and this is a particularly tough time. I'm keeping it together through a mix of minis and death metal.

Cant spend all my time planning a funeral so I'm also planning Arnhem for CoC. I think I slightly nudged my friend towards the new Paul Hicks paras so I get the SS. Currently mixing every remaining Warlord German sprue I've got and it's quite fun.

Personally I would like to it acknowledged how Goes forth sticks to the formula established in earlier series regarding how all the "higher ups" were basically stupid. Pretty sure Wellington didn't run an army purely by shouting nor dulled with small cannons.
