My neighbor’s kid just yells out “hey Kristen!” when he wants me to come out and talk to him while he hangs out in the tree between our yards. I love it.

I’m rereading a book I originally read shortly after it was published in the mid 90s. I remember thinking it was hilarious at the time. Now I’m like, wow, there’s a lot of casual racism. Did I just not notice at the time? It it a “well it was the 90s” situation?
