happy #maneymonday, y'all!!!!

pov: we're on a walk and there's a storm sewer cover I NEED to stop and look at (and maybe take a pic of 👀),,,
Thinking of the high water sign from ANEX, before and after the weekend.

Unfortunately I don't think it'll be warming any motorists of potential flood-prone roadways with all those stickers (including one from me!!) 😭

today's silly find: a radial cover grate!!

it's a fun little crossover between a manhole cover and a grate inlet!
February 8, 2026 at 12:23 AM
spotted some silly cast iron inlets while walking around the con!

here's some vaned grate inlets in a sag (low-point) of a parking lot, which are angled in both directions to better capture flow from the entire area

another common sight in OK are cast iron combo inlets (curb hood + vane grates)!

kept up at night thinking about this monstrosity of an inlet I saw a few months ago,,, a double 10' curbline inlet connected to a junction box-inlet combo with Y-inlets on either side

fully made my bf pull over on the way to lunch to take pictures lol

bad news, Mike saw his shadow this morning. Six more miles of sewers.

UPDATE: I FOUND A SECOND CITY OF DALLAƧ INLET COVER !!!!! This one was actually a lot closer to where I usually walk so I'm surprised I've never noticed it before 😭

I forgot to add, I wound up writing my environmental regulations/policy term paper on the RRCCP! I figured I'd drop a link for anyone interested in reading more abt it:

docs.google.com/document/d/1...
lately I've been reading pretty extensively about the Red River Chloride Control Project, and this week I got the chance to go visit the largest of the few features that were actually constructed: Truscott Brine Lake!

now that things have slowed down and the weather's finally thawing out, I'm hoping to start my stormwater posting again >:3

here's an 8-foot curb inlet I see all the time, featuring way more ice than usual

I'm a little late getting this posted, but while visiting my bf's family up in Oklahoma we managed to find a little park made from concrete pipe!!!!

incredibly fitting since we were out looking for stormwater features for me to take pics of lol

was up in Denton again this weekend to see a friend and spotted these funky little catch basins from Neenah Foundry!

earlier this week I got to attend some floodplain management trainings at the with Dallas Water Utilities, and while I was there I got a closeup look at Baker Pump Station! (which is actually three different pump stations, and is one of six PS along the main west/east levees of the Dallas Floodway)!

unfortunately being aware of any environmental issues means you think about politics every time you go outside and kind of want to tear someone’s face off
Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation
