This #TransitThursday, I'm thankful to live near an accessible, clean bus stop with frequent, reliable bus service. What about your transit experience are you thankful for this #TransitThursday?

Reid Ewing and crew here on the classic transit planning question, what consultant @humantransit.bsky.social calls the ridership-coverage tradeoff: do you maximize ridership with frequent buses in areas with the most riders or do you send buses to every corner of the city but less frequently?
New transit study: Service frequency and coverage both drive ridership, but frequency matters more.

I grew up in Detroit sprawl hearing about long-dead transit routes.
I constantly read about Portland's transportation and land use and moved there, working for years to promote the best research on biking, walking and transit.
Then I couldn't afford it and left for a small city.

"Have you ever reflected on your transportation story?" -V.O. Davis

This #TransitThursday, REPLY to tell us your story.

Why are you a transit rider, advocate, board member, planner, engineer, or otherwise involved in the transportation field?

Who or what moments influenced you?

Yes, and I believe my love for transit, and the seed for biking which would come much later, is rooted in places I was fortunate to spend time in as a kid 1/

No more playing frogger 🐸
Current me thanks old me for recommending this bus stop relocation. What was once a mid-block stop on a dangerous high-crash road is now a far side stop at signaled intersection with a high visibility crosswalk and pedestrian signals.
