#rustlang hot take: We should rename .unwrap() to .or_panic(). (And .expect() to .or_panic_with().) "Unwrap" is a terrible name for the panicking function, especially since we also have things like .unwrap_or() and .unwrap_or_default() which never panic.

Journalists around the world keep misrepresenting scientific research on climate change.

Polical reports on false progress don't help.

We could experience monthly temperatures of +2.6°C above pre-industrial during an El Niño in about a decade

And there's a substantial risk of passing +3°C by 2050

Today I thought, there could be a "Falsehoods programmers believe about chips" I believe @diondokter.nl would have enough entries for that.

Had a gig wrap up a little earlier than expected, I should have availability starting July or so.

As always: if you need help with Embedded, Rust, or similar things, shoot me a message!

If you're a user of postcard, p-rpc, or are interested in the more experimental new ergot: shoot me a message!

My issue is that I avoid the bird site, and the shenanigans oscillate faster than major news outlets' sampling frequency.
Every other day someone from the US skeets something implying an unbelievable thing happened, without context, even the lamenting comments lack it.

And I have to open up news sites and try to fish which godforsaken event was being implied.

Modern Uber experience:
- Not sure about how the icons match vehicle types, they all look alike.
- Select XL assuming it will be a van.
- Get a match with a Toyota Prius hatchback with extra seats, no room for baggage.
- Try to call the guy to discuss, doesn't work.

Any Berliners?
Where is a nice place to stay walking distance to touristic places for an extended family with young kids?
Or a place to avoid?

The only challenger to Erdogan in a presidential election was sentenced with phony charges against him.

This is one stop before Putin style defenestrations.
BREAKING: People are being suspended on X in Turkey for posting videos of these protests against Erdoğan’s corrupt and repressive regime.

Keep sharing everywhere.

Hey all, I've been working on an IEEE 802.15.4-2011 stack in Rust: github.com/tweedegolf/l...

It's far from done and not in a usable state yet. Right now I'm only working on it in my free time, but if there's someone who can sponsor/pay for development, it can be completed much faster.

The day is finally here! Poststation is now available to download/buy!

The goal is to make it easier for more people to use postcard + postcard-rpc in their devices, and make it pretty painless to talk to multiple devices, or multiple versions of devices.

Check it out here:

Today this Newyorker arrived, and it seems reality again exceeded the most absurd satirical expectations that we can ever think of.

This is at most mild.

It is the year 2045 and all merge requests are engineers trying to convince an LLM writing the correct code in the comments.

I am reading the Requests for Discussion system that @oxide.computer built, read @bcantrill.bsky.social's blog and find them very inspirational.

I wonder how people got used to a git workflow for documentation so intimately connected to the business? Especially those without a software background.

I have heard that there are SW people that have this book central to their craft.

I sort of read it in the context of architecture.

So, is there anyone here that relates? What do you think about it?
