Now that folks seem to be emigrating for real to this LinkedIn version of Twitter, like a proper chronic online academic I want to do a ✨Thread🧵✨ about my work, so here is an example of a certified Hot Take on Marx based on my research:

Marx never had have a 'theory' of alienation 🥵

New article, long in the making. On Alexander von Humboldt’s critique of natural-historical concepts of race and his diagnosis of a politics of racialised difference leveraged in the colonies. I try to say: there are good reasons to look beyond Kant!

Weird Brown's introduction to the new Capital translation has drawn so much animosity + been negatively compared to Mandel's when her interpretation of capital is basically the same.

Ok this (arstechnica.com/space/2025/1...) is an amazing example of the kind of BS hype tech writing we see so much, because even I, a lowly historian, can see the Obvious Problems with 'space data centers' that the article by a journalist at a technical publication failed to ask.
Elon Musk on data centers in orbit: “SpaceX will be doing this”
“We could see another transformation of what’s done in space.”…

Who has written analytically about the concept of 'Marxolgy'? Has someone tried to define what Marxology is? What is its aims and practices? Its methods?

Really recommend reading the essays in here, including the very helpful reflections on how the organisers actively went about ensuring gender parity (no mean feat for a Marxism conference).

THANK YOU 💕💕

Our 10th conference is done and dusted and we couldn’t be happier. A huge thank you from the organisers to everyone who presented, listened, discussed, laughed, and raged about the state derivation debate 🫶

Keep an eye on our channels for information about next year’s conference!!
