5 years ago I got blackout drunk on my birthday and I haven’t taken a drink since.

Today I am happy to say I am 5 years sober and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Although @magnoliastate.bsky.social has great album after great album overall I feel this one sometimes gets overlooked. Such a solid listen throughout.

“We can run but we know we can never hide
From the truth and the lies of our spiritual genocide”

This album came out on the other side of the pandemic for me emotionally and it connected on so many levels. One of my fav straight through listens of the past 10 years. @magnoliastate.bsky.social

Quick recap thread of some things I wrote (and loved writing) in 2024, in part as a catch-up, in part as a thank you to the real MVPs (editors).

Loved digging in early this year on a recent @magnoliastate.bsky.social record (and our evangelical childhoods):

“You’ll never make it in music.”

Mr. Myers
Introduce yourself with your worst feedback from school:

"Unfocused and Lazy, he will never amount to anything."

Thanks Mrs Endicott.

"Both our younger selves stepped through consecrated evenings, questions hanging overhead like stars, our descendants as numerous as Abraham’s."

Loved writing about @magnoliastate.bsky.social's Prodigal album for The Museum of Americana:
