I agree with you in principle (and I took more classes that dealt with ConLaw issues than average or necessary!) but knowing some principles of conlaw is still different from memorizing the canon of conlaw cases, of which there are hundreds.

If we extend your analogy, I would expect a lawyer to know what the First Amendment is, along with a number of other general legal principles. Case names are different (and lawyers have specialties and very few of them involve the First Amendment!)

Fwiw, I didn’t get that case in law school and haven’t had reason to engage with it professionally. I didn’t know it by name but I have heard about the “fuck the draft” shirt case. Memorizing cases isn’t super helpful for practicing - it’s being able to find relevant cases when you need them.

Watched the whole Long Strange Trip doc while sick yesterday, for some of the historical context. Plan is to listen to the Dick’s Pick’s series of 36 live recordings and use Hyden/Mitchum 36 From the Vault podcast as an accompaniment. Open to additional homework of course!
Think I might fuck around and finally get into the Dead this year

Even having never been a fan, it strikes me as crazy that people act like there isn’t an obvious answer for “who is the greatest American band?” every time that prompt goes around. It is clearly the Grateful Dead!

It was fine but also the servers at half the showings I went to during the pilot were telling us not to bother with mobile orders because it messes stuff up and to just use paper and pen the whole time

I’ve thought about it for a week or so and I must issue a correction: my album of the year is Fantasy by DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ. Apologies to Real Lies, whose album We Will Annihilate Our Enemies moves into the #2 slot. we are listening and learning.
