5 generations have looked out these balcony doors onto the rooftops and hills of Sicily. The view has not changed but the sounds have. Chimneys & horse drawn carts replaced by antennas & electric cars. One thing remains, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee every morning.

'Medusa' painted by Caravaggio c.1597. Baroque painting on a curved wooden shield. Caravaggio was known as a complex & violent person, yet he was a prominent artist of his generation. Standing infront of this painting is quite extraordinary.

In La Serenissima (Venice) watching a Gondola glide by is a very soothing. Gondoliers make about €100,000 (give or take for expenses etc). It may seem like an easy occupation, it is not. Learning the craft, the rules and infinite patience of tourists who don't always listen.

English Blue Staffy are most probably the most golden hearted of the 'Canus Lupus familiaris'. They are extremely affectionate and loyal to their families, having the nickname the 'Nanny dog', however they can be quite stubborn and don't believe in personal space 😁

Marano Lagunare, Udine, Italy. Once belonged to Patriarchate of Aquilea and then to the Venetian Republic. The local dialect is of Venetian origin unlike the surrounding area.
It has a lovely nature reserve on the lagoon worth a visit as well.
