I've seen D&D get the credit for all the cool maps, minis and lore a GM made, and it broke my heart.
A: you enjoy these things so much because the context in which they're placed provides a huge and stark contrast against the things the game values that the contrast makes them more memorable in relief, or
B: you loathe the game you're playing.
