Looking at the Tigers in 2025, and seeing much: a pair of potential mid-season surprises, via trade and minor-league promotion; a win-loss record dented severely by the Parker Meadows void; rebound for a certain hitter; trade chips emerging. Detroit News.https://shorturl.at/gzDXT
Henning: 15 thoughts, predictions as the Tigers open their 2025 season
Fifteen irrepressible thoughts about the 2025 Tigers as they prepare for an opening series against (gulp) the Dodgers.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

The past two Tigers signing scorecards from Latin America, including Wednesday's formal announcements, hint that a long-fumbling MLB club has turned around its domestic, and international, safaris. What's changed? Detroit News story. shorturl.at/rZMnv

Can we just admit that we NEED immigrants for our economy to run, from agriculture to high tech?

We’re a goddamn nation of immigrants, aren’t we? Let’s be proud of our immigrant heritage!

Should we continue to encourage kids to go to college ? Or push them to take up a trade ?

I believe in college. Learning how to learn, IMO, is a critical life skill. Being exposed to people of different backgrounds, makes yiu wiser

Qualifier- it should be a school you can afford.

Charlie Maxwell -- when Hula Hoops and sock-hops were in vogue, baseball's blessings were embodied by a Sunday home-run specialist from Paw Paw, Michigan. Detroit News farewell. shorturl.at/oWG1q
Maxwell was the living embodiment of idyllic Tigers Sundays in the 1950s
If searching for one Tigers name that conveyed a radio blaring Tigers games to the tune of Van Patrick’s booming voice, it might well be Charlie Maxwell.

Pete Buttigieg needs to back away from Michigan gubernatorial thoughts. Now. Jocelyn Benson has that handled, effectively. Buttigieg must get going -- now -- on 2028. Never in history will a man of his intellect and reason be more in need for the world than four years from now.

Roki Sasaki's next destination: probably one of the coastal MLB teams. But smaller-market clubs (Tigers, included) are bidding, all because this international talent-auction isn't terribly conventional. Detroit News column. shorturl.at/ICFJi
Henning: Tigers are serious about Roki Sasaki, and might have the goods to get him
Those emphatic words Tuesday from Scott Harris are worth mulling as the Tigers get in line to chase Japanese super-talent Roki Sasaki.
