Man, if you think Sword Art Online is cool because of its concept idea, then watch the anime that actually did it first and with a much more interesting approach - .hack//SIGN.
Also the soundtrack is fucking good.

.hack//SIGN is so fucking special and a very good chunk of it is that the "trapped in an MMO world and percieving it as physical in a way that the rest of the cast does not" is not framed as empowering or fantastical, but as an immediate and troubling sign of dissociation
Thinking very much about how good the end of the 1st episode of .hack sign is.
Following this mystery of who this person is and why they're so distantly hostile to others, the clear grief and fear they're processing, this bug of reality constantly coming at them and them adamantly rejecting it.

the problem with the whole “ur only gonna own a thin terminal! they’re takint the ram!!” is for that to work you need an optimized front end. idk if you’ve turned on a pc lately but web browsers are absurdly memory hungry for most sites, let alone every chromium wrapper (discord steam etc)
