Reclaiming Socialism in Canada’s NDP Leadership Race
NDP leadership candidate Avi Lewis says socialism, defined by bold public solutions, not managerial caution, can rebuild the party after historic losses. He’s betting it can unite a majority across di...

Charles Taylor is one of Canada’s most important thinkers and an icon in our party.

He kept the NDP flame alive in Quebec for decades, and his values guide our campaign: building a country worthy of the everyday working-class heroes who keep it going.

His support means the world to me.

There are fountains of wealth being generated in this country. But that wealth isn't trickling down to working people. It’s all stuck at the top.

Our 'Tax Plan for the 99%' takes on the corporate hoarding class – to redistribute wealth and raise the floor for all of us.

@lukewsavage.bsky.social is always a good read—very much enjoy how his essays are grounded in remembering history. His book, The Dead Center, is also worth picking up.

The Canadian government is refusing to release the names of 700 Nazis who settled here after the Second World War. What do you even say at this point? As a Canadian, I feel angry and ashamed.

Mark Carney's intervention in Davos has elicited a considerable response and won plaudits from some unusual places. But how exactly should we interpret the speech and what might it signify? I have some thoughts.

"the vision at the centre of Carney’s speech potentially starts to look more conservative in its implications. In effect, the pragmatic posture he describes is the one so far embraced by his own government in the realm of foreign affairs"

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has declared the end of American hegemony. Last year, @lukewsavage.bsky.social described his schtick: a bland technocracy in service of a kinder, gentler global capitalism. thebaffler.com/latest/pity-...

Canada’s Mark Carney wants to rejuvenate technocratic centrism. How many times do we have to say that’s a stupid idea?

Avi Lewis has the juice. He’s sharp, good on camera, knows how to organize, and has a strong, optimistic, and achievable vision for this country. If you’re looking for the Canadian standard-bearer of a Mamdani-style socialist politics, this is your guy.
The NDP needs rebuilding and renewal, and Avi Lewis is its best hope at both. I'll be voting for him enthusiastically in March and I strongly encourage everyone to do the same.

Liberals have moved so far right under Carney that they're practically sitting in the laps of the Conservatives.

@lukewsavage.bsky.social is right: we need a revitalized and unapologetically left-wing NDP more than ever.
