🐸Fire-bellied toad (Bombina variegata).
Max size 56 mm cm (2.2").
Mildly poisonous.
Found from France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany in the west to Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and western Ukraine in the east.
Considered Least Concern by the IUCN.

A juvenile Toad-head Turtle (Mesoclemmys nasuta) from NE Peru back in January. These are pleurodires, or side-neck turtles - their head tucks to either side under the shell. A different group from cryptodires, which pull their head and neck straight back under the shell. #herps #NaturePhotography 🌿
