The Spirit of the Lord ….has anointed me (us) to bring glad tidings to the poor….to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind….to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.

The death penalty is morally inadmissible in every case, and must be abolished. We have alternatives for accountability that uphold human life instead of killing another person.
Please ask Congress to speak up and oppose the unlawful act of war by the Trump administration in Venezuela. We want to see Venezuela free from the corruption and violence of Chavez and Maduro, but not like this, not by the corruption and violence of the US or others. We cannot remain silent.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

The federal government is twisting and misrepresenting concepts of Catholic social teaching in order to shut down the work of Catholic Charities Rio Grande Valley.
CCRGV, a South Texas nonprofit led by Sister Norma Pimentel, has been given 30 days to respond to DHS’s proposed debarment, which would shut the organization out of most federal funding streams for six years.

Call Congress: No War with Venezuela!
The Trump administration is killing people in the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean, deliberately killing people outside of war, in an illegal use of military force. This cannot continue, Congress must assert its constitutional authority over matters of war and peace.
