it was important to me to show my 12 yo daughter a different form of cinema and it made me so happy to have her sitting next to me in the small Babylon Berlin cinema to watch Jarmush' Stranger Than Paradise. She loved it!

After watching "Vera" yesterday, I couldn't help paying a tribute to Vera Gemma's father, Giuliano Gemma, and re-watched Day of Anger (the Italian version) with an iconic Lee Van Cleef, a young Giuliano and Oedipal final gun-fight.

Watched "Vera", an imperfect movie with Vera Gemma, a female Mickey Rourke who happens to be the daughter of Giuliano Gemma, who starred in many spaghetti-westerns in the 70s. The story is constructed from fragments of reality around Vera Gemma, hard to tell what is real and what is fictional. Liked

I left twitter a very very long time ago (Aug 21 2012) and I can hardly related to the flood of posts here on bsky about twitter toxicity. I have good memories of twitter circa 2010, made many meaningful connections. Also so cringey to read my old tweets.

Next week the new Fotografiska museum will open in Berlin. It's hardly a museum, rather a post-cultural juggernaut, that leverages well calibrated visual art to lure people into their high-end restaurant and bars and bookshop. I am skeptical, but let's see.

The cat is ok, according to the vet.

It looks like one of our two cats jumped out of the window during the night (4th floor). We found him on the street, terrified and apparently unharmed. Taking him to the vets now for a check-up.

A visit to Motto books in Berlin this afternoon, always fun to hang around there with Alexis.

First time watching "Kids Return" a 1996 Takeshi Kitano's gem about shattered dreams, boxe and the fear of growing up and facing life. A nouanced movie with the usual explosions of matter-of-fact violence. Kitano's best?

Rewatching "To Live and Die in L.A." by William Friedkin. In a recent interview from an Italian newspaper, Dario Argento mentioned his long-lasting artistic kinship with Friedkin and how saddened he was from his death. He also believes that TLADLA is Friedkin's achievement. Such a trip of a movie.

A friend of my wife visited us from Seattle last week. When I asked her husband, a lovely French guy, if he has ever considered buying a fire weapon, since it's so easy to acquire one, he nonchalantly replied "nah, I fear I may blow my brains out".

Been around here for sometime now and haven't got the slightest idea of what am I going to write about. These folks who have a "talk about" footer in their bio, how do you do it? All I can think about right now is how cold it suddenly is here in Berlin.
