Working with Awana Digital, Coolab and others to empower native communities and their ways of life. From Pindo Abya Ayala (named Brazil by invaders), has lived for the past 11 years in a Quilombola (maroon) community learning to be human.

Check out this article about some great territorial defense work being done by the Krahô community with support by @luandro.bsky.social and @awana.digital in Brazil
Indigenous women from Krahô communities in Brazil’s Tocantins state have formed a surveillance group to protect their ancestral territory from invaders.

They plan and implement territorial protection actions based on Krahô traditions and ways of life.

Read:
Krahô women lead Indigenous guard to protect territory in Brazil
Across South America, Indigenous communities have often considered territorial protection to be the main responsibility of men, while women typically assume roles as caretakers of the household, famil...

Honored to have spent a week recently at #COP16 in Cali, Colombia with my co-conspirators, technical collaborators, and good friends from @awana.digital. The week before, we established integration between #CoMapeo and #GuardianConnector.

I believe AI is a natural evolution of computation like socialmedia of the www. While social media isnt inherently bad big tech made it a tool for addiction and polarization. NLP enables oral, low-literacy, communities to interact through orality with machines. What would a #communityai look like?

The rainy season is perfect for grass growth, and neighbors mow their lawns. We trade: I gather their grass, and take it to cover the #agroforest.
Afternoon work:
1: Collect the grass
2: Remove excess cover crop without harming plants
3: Carefully cover the soil with the grass

Finally, its ready!

A few years ago, my mom gave me a Callisia repens for decoration. We forgot it, and it spread across the #agroforest, suffocating everything. I hated it, but I’ve made peace: during the dry season, it covers the soil, and though hard to remove, its compost and tiny roots work wonders for the soil.

Had an accident while sharpening the machete and it went about 15mm deep into my finger cutting into my nail. Treated with medicine found in the #agroforest. First some powdered turmeric and some banana sap to stop the bleeding, then sangra d'água (Croton urucurana) sap to completely close the wound

Been working closely with @awana.digital for past 4 years. Here's a few pics from the last #mapeo events with amazing indigenous partners, protecting millions of hectares of Amazon and Cerrado in Brasil. Best use of #p2p tech I'm aware, with an amazing journey and amazing contributors over the years

Still growing a food forest in my backyard and after 8 years the soil entropy has become amazing with little external input. In just a few m², we've got kale, turmeric, mulberries, castor beans, papaya, jatobá trees, terramycin, mustard, pineapple, lemon, thyme & more thriving together #agroforestry
