I am drunk on power after realizing Godot lets you embed textures in RichTextLabels, and well... ViewportTextures are textures. 🤯

I saved replays of my game #HomeSheepHome in a binary format to save space. Yesterday I saved one replay in a JSON format. It was ~20% smaller. I save a lot of double (coordinates) that use 8 bytes each. JSON saves it like "5.7" practically in 3-6 bytes. It gzips better too. #indiedev

I spent half of today setting up firebase emulator on my pc working together with #GodotEngine First issue: godot resolves localhost to ipv6 and doesn't fall back to ipv4. Firebase listens by default on ipv4 only. You need to add host:"::" to all emulators.

I spent couple of hours trying to connect to firebase from #GodotEngine. Finally I went to see the source code of the plugin and realized that if I change my DB name, it doesn't work. Maybe it's time for me to submit a fix. #indiedev

Unfortunately, there’s no built-in way in #GodotEngine to retrieve a custom scene tile from a TileMapLayer. My workaround: loop through the children and match them by position. #indiedev #solodev

After I realized my TileMap is usually tiny (like 10-20 tiles) I went with a brute-force approach. Result is satisfying. Also it's only a few usec. #GodotEngine #indiedev #solodev

Does anyone know how to figure out the bounding rectangle of an isometric TileMapLayer in #Godot? get_used_rect() is returning it for normal Square not for the isometric. #indiedev #solodev

Played a lot with Godot's TileMap. There are some room for improvements (e.g. if you use PackedScene as tile, there is only a cumbersome way to get the instance of that PackedScene in a specific coord) but in general I got it worked smootly even programatically. Great tool. #GodotEngine #indiedev

Weirdest bug: game freezes when changing HUD with animation. Only on device. No error message. Added a few "print" and suddenly it started working. Most likely the issue (index out of bounds) froze the game during tween animation but with prints it had enough time to finish. #GodotEngine #indiedev

When the authentication works like charm and you are happy that you can release but let's run a final test and the whole game freezes without throwing any error and only on the mobile device... #HomeSheepHome #indiedev
