Once a month I read a 750-1,500 page novel that threatens an existential crisis and 2-5 more that are about how society is not broken, it is functioning as designed (cyberpunk as a genre for example).

Ballad of a Small Player is a fun movie that rewards a bit of attention. A thing increasingly rare. At the same time Nicolas Winding Refn would have been a better choice in director with the caveat that he would have made it cynical and bleak.
