I can actually make the first anti war video game (or movie for that matter, no such thing etc) but I would need to be able to physically break into the player's house at any point during the run so it would have to be a one-time performance art/harassment type thing, but I think it'd be worth it

After doing QA for a few months I have come to the conclusion that games should have blooper reels but with the funniest bugs during development. My NDA unfortunately prevents me from sharing some really funny shit Ive seen which will never see the light of day

Its literally just cause Oscar Season. The cutoff does need to be somehwere, but Id honestly just make it a 25/26 school year type season and do the cutoff from like August to July the next year just cause midsummer is usually Drought Season, or is that a bit too AAA centric?
The reason I never take awards shows seriously, and I don't think most devs do as well is that well, they still release games in Jan/Feb. The "Oh yeah I forgot those games came out this year" period of release. Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Fantasy Life I. Legit a bunch of my top 10 all from there

Finally finished Killer 7 after shelving it for months. I wanna say its a game I respect more than I love. I did like it, but I feel like its the kinda game that kinda peaks early in terms of all the weirdness of its story and gameplay and gets to be less compelling as the initial novelty wears off.

Went back to Killer 7 after ages without playing it and I literally laughed out loud when the target's name is revealed to be "Trevor Pearlharbor". Like cmon man

You dont understand how much the meth helps you function until your prescription runs out and your doctor is unavailable. Work today was an unpleasant flashback to how I was in high school i.e perpetually tired and demoralised

Despite joining the workforce and not being in school for months now, I still get dreams where I miss deadlines and shit for assignments. Very cool.

To which I say “It’s Bond mate. Nobody cares about the lore.

Bond's first outing in Dr. No was released in 1962, where he was meant to be in his mid 30s.

He has appeared as seven entirely different people since then and should now be in his 90s. Get on with it.”

Wrote a bit about a short and sweet platformer that just released recently. Quite liked it

LordDarias's review of Hypogea | Backloggd
Rather excellent little platformer built around a unique pole vaulting mechanic (although it almost looks more like "Salto del Pastor" from my homeland) that works quite well as a traversal and puzzle tool. As expected from a physics-ish based platformer made mainly by one guy, its quite jank; but not enough to ever seriously fuck with the experience, largely because its a fairly forgiving game.

The usual wordless storytelling works well enough, largely because your Yorda equivalent (theres a few direct ICO nods funnily enough, so Im not just bringing it up for no reason) doesnt need to be defended from Monsters.

The collectible artifacts make for a 1-2 punch of being higher skill challenges to reach than the critical path and also provide some insight into the "lore" of this world with ocassional hidden flashbacks to the backstory of the place.

I noticed in a few of these a few WW1 allusions which might explain why the main character's head resembles a British "Tommy" helmet. Suffice it to say a mass produced army of robots being sent to die in the trenches by humans who could not give a shit about their well being is barely even a metaphor for the carnage of the late 1910s.

This theme also ties into the usual visual metaphor of the Megastructure as an unfathomably large beast of iron and concrete you can never escape from, which I have to admit, might be starting to wear me out a bit. Its done well here, and in Metal Garden and Lorn's Lure and the like, but its gonna start to get old real fast if the trend keeps up. I know its a cool setting, and most importantly one that is rather cheap to achieve compared to others, but there is such a thing as being overexposed IMO.

For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

Playing through Sorry Were Closed made me wonder why it and Killer 7 seem like the only games to try combining the fixed camera angles with first person view. Maybe it makes people dizzy? I genuinely got more motion sick trying to play RE1 than K7, though thats probably cause of how many more

I still think "The final cut" or any kind of directors cut is stupid for a videogame rerelease. One because it implies some kind of restored editorial control thats almost never actually true but also, cuts are for films, because a film's editing might be redone by literal cutting of film reels

Huh, accidentally found a softlock in Disco Elysium. Maybe becoming a QA tester has made me a target for the bugs who seek my destruction. Anyways, if you get to the island, dont examine the damaged ledger, you can get teleported back without a way to get on the boat again.

This has to be my 4th or 5th playthrough and still, goosebumps. A game with great writing can have you both on the floor laughing one minute and another tearing up. What a goddamn once in a lifetime miracle this game turned out to be
