There are many good things to say about Ubiquiti products, but the mobile app is not one of them - even a ASUS router that costs a third of the price would allow you to set up with mobile app without forcing you to sign-up for a cloud account.

Luckily the good ol' Ethernet LAN way still works.

IKEA Debuts Miniature NFC Phone Bed to Combat Nighttime Phone Scrolling
IKEA Debuts Miniature NFC Phone Bed to Combat Nighttime Phone Scrolling
Earlier this month, IKEA debuted a tiny NFC-enabled bed that's meant to help smartphone users cut down on nighttime usage. The small "Phone Sleep Collection" is modeled after an actual IKEA bed, and it uses the IKEA app to monitor scroll-free sleep time. Users who hit seven hours of scroll-free time for a week straight are eligible for an IKEA voucher. Every phone bed comes with built-in NFC tech, making sleep effortlessly rewarding. Here's how it works: - Download the IKEA UAE app. - (For iOS users) When prompted, allow Motion & Fitness tracking. - Place your phone on its bed and tap the notification to open the app. - That's it. Your sleep time will track in the background (no counter will appear). - Complete seven nights of seven-hour sleep, and earn your voucher. Unfortunately, the tiny bed is only available in the United Arab Emirates, and it is a promotional item that IKEA is giving out when customers spend AED 750 or more in-person in IKEA, as long as the purchase includes an item from the company's Complete Sleep Collection. IKEA's promotion has garnered quite a bit of attention, so it's possible that the company will expand the promotion to additional countries.Tag: Ikea This article, "IKEA Debuts Miniature NFC Phone Bed to Combat Nighttime Phone Scrolling" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

What people think software developers do: coding all days, supervise AI writing codes, scaling, ship features (or bugs)!

Le software engineering: can you approve my PR that makes 0 file changes so that we can unblock the bot from deploying this one character change at the bottom of the page?

Thinking of using Jira to manage personal goals, with projects like health, finance, career, reading, gaming, all of them on a single board running 12-week "sprints".

Probably an incredibly terrible idea 🗑️ 🔥, or it might just be the right to-do list with the right flexibility. 🤔

iPhone 17 Pro Has Toggle to Disable Screen Flickering (PWM)
iPhone 17 Pro Has Toggle to Disable Screen Flickering (PWM)
The iPhone 17 Pro models include an Accessibility setting to disable pulse width modulation (PWM), according to information found in the iOS 26 release candidate. There will be a toggle located in the Display and Text Size section of the Accessibility settings on the ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌. Users will be able to turn PWM on, or turn it off. A description: Disables pulse width modulation to provide a different way to dim the OLED display, which can create a smoother display output at low brightness levels. Disabling PWM may affect low brightness display performance under certain conditions. It is possible that the PWM toggle will be available on all iPhone 17 models, but we can only confirm that it's an option on the ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌. Pulse width modulation is used for adjusting the brightness of a display. PWM is designed to quickly switch LED or OLED pixels on or off to control the brightness that people perceive. Some users are bothered by PWM and can see a flickering at lower brightness levels. Affected users often complain of eye strain, headaches, and other symptoms, but it is a technology that display makers use because it is energy efficient. The ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ and perhaps other ‌iPhone 17‌ models could provide those who are bothered by PWM with a fix.Related Roundup: iPhone 17 ProRelated Forum: iPhone This article, "iPhone 17 Pro Has Toggle to Disable Screen Flickering (PWM)" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

One thing I think Apple silicon does better than Intel and AMD other than power efficiency is the naming scheme, use number to indicate only the generation instead both generation and tier.

Maybe a lot of web developers already has the muscle memory of performing the "canisue" search (self included), but this querying and filtering feature on WebStatus.dev makes it a lot easier to drill down for specific results.

Imagine all web pages embrace CSS view transitions, navigating around the web like it's a slideshow 😂, only to find out not only it's limited to same-origin pages, it's also only for direct user interactions (e.g. opening bookmarks from browser UI doesn't count): css-tricks.com/almanac/rule...
@view-transition | CSS-Tricks
The @view-transition at-rule allows pages to opt into cross-document view transitions. In other words, it enables animations between pages of the same origin with just CSS.

I feel like the digital billboard / digital out of home (DOOH) situation is getting out of hand in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor.

According to Laguna Media, there are 20 screens along LDP.

I have concerns that the billboards are distracting drivers.

Kind of surprised to see Apple Notes supports importing and exporting markdown files in *OS 26 (www.apple.com/my/newsroom/...). With previously added note linking, now it just needs graph view and be (unlikely) cross platform.

Love this subtle animation from this demo (youtu.be/4SErIMflSLQ?...) of Material 3 Expressive. It's better implemented than the current one on iOS 18.5 because the motion signals a greater sense of friction on a destructive operation. Still prefer the stacked apps design on iOS though.
