This is a great thread. Unfortunately I can count on my two hands the number of times I’ve seen a journalist on here (and I follow A LOT of journos) talk about the problems with AV tech and laws requiring its use. Sex workers have been warning about this for 2+ years.
AI “age verification” scanners don’t work, but they especially don’t work for Black people, women, and other people of color. For the people who want us to have to use them to access the internet, this is intentional—they want the internet to be a place for white men

How do we combat the vibe that new, energy-efficient appliances don't work as well?
Like, I'm probably going to have to interface with this in a video at some point. So much of it is baloney - or attributing somebody's bad experience to "regulations" and not "a bad product"
