Fun fact: James Cagney, recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom from his good friend Ronald Reagan, started his stage career in 1919 dressed in drag in the chorus, in which former soldiers also danced in skirts and wigs. Cagney said he enjoyed it. He also was a 1980 Kennedy Center honouree.
