Random memory of my parents from when my Dad was in the RAF in WW2. When they travelled by train with my brother when he was a baby he would get passed up and down the train and entertained by guys in the forces for the entire journey #Remembrance

Fresh, funny narrator, spot-on depiction of Home Counties in 1950s/60s. Coming of age novel which can be read in a single sitting. Loved it!

Royal Mail email: we are expecting your parcel.
Excitement - we have your parcel and will be delivering it today.
Third email: no-one was in

Someone was in all day and anyway we have a lockable delivery box by the front door and the parcel was a secondhand paperback. 👀

Following young Tibb Ingleby across Tudor England as she tries to survive. The irreverence and quirkiness reminds me of The Pretender by Jo Harkin.

Finished this last night - a deceptively easy conversational read about a road trip and an exploration of 55 year old Tom’s life. Really liked it.

I used to have a clematis tangutica in the garden which cost me £4.95 in 1992 (it gave up the ghost eventually). Today I found another in a sale for £7.99. Some prices haven’t risen too much in 33 years 😁
