Gartered is distinguished from the others by the male's blackish (less blue) head and paler gray wing coverts. Within Gartered Trogon are three subspecies of which this is the northern "sallaei" (formerly "braccatus"). Trogons eat both fruit and insects, but Gartered appears to be more of a fruit-eater.
