Just wasted half an hour because I was passing a
SectionedFetchResults.Section directly to a function taking an array. All Xcode gave me was "The compiler is unable to type-check this expression in reasonable time". The state of this IDE is embarassing.

So, the DOGE kids intend to rewrite the social-security administration's COBOL code-base!

and they want to do it ...

... in *a few months*

I did a huge dive into COBOL a few years ago (www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca/magazi...) ...

... so let me explain why DOGE is *way* over its skis here

For people who don't use screen readers, it can be difficult to understand how screen readers work. If you're interested in learning how people use screen readers, check out this demo from Marc Sutton and The University of California San Francisco.

The Nintendo Switch does NOT have a screen reader. This makes it very frustrating to navigate when you're blind/visually impaired... Sign the petition to encourage Nintendo to consider accessibility on the new switch!

I've stopped warning people. Overlays grow like weeds and they can't be stopped until the companies are. Which will be never at this rate.

Companies will ALWAYS take the path of least resistance and try to make their stuff accessible without having to pay experts or specialists to do it.
You might have heard that the FTC fined #accessiBe $1 million.

Here's the full complaint:

www.ftc.gov/system/files...

It includes details of the types of violations on websites that use the accessWidget overlay, like focus trap, navigation issues, and missing alt text.

I’m glad so many people have found my “capybara method” for how to write alt text and image descriptions helpful! However, I know conflicting access needs exist and not everyone can write their own #AltText, so here’s an ongoing thread of tools that can help. Inclusion in thread ≠ endorsement
