I don't formally study writing, but extensive practice has taught me two things:

1) it's useful to set a writing project aside to gain perspective,

yet...

2) the longer a piece rests, the harder it can be to regain momentum and start writing it again.

Hard balance to strike.

Interesting! I feel like this articulates why I love Bethesda games almost to the exclusion of anything else.
That got me thinking on how I'd define 'BethesdaGame' as a subset of the RPG genre. I think the key components are:
1) Emphasis on immersion, inc. first person perspective
2) Character creation, with a wide range of builds and options
3) Open story structure
4) and a world you can 'live in.'
