A little bit about me: white, female, GenX, cis/het, married, with two adult sons (one cis, one trans, both adored) and one (nonbinary) kiddo-in-law. 4 cats and 1 gecko. Amateur naturalist, quilter, reader, native plant gardener, atheist, long-ago homebirther, homeschooler. Just a bit weird.

I finished the top for the third (and final) lap quilt that I'm making for Christmas gifts for my kids. This one is made with a charm pack set featuring herons and water lilies. It's the "Watermarks" set by Holly Taylor for Moda.

I was lucky to have the opportunity to go on a Halloween botany walk this morning. We were in Paris, Virginia on top of an overlook and it was chilly and so windy! But I was happy to be outside on an adventure.

Wilbur is such a good buddy. He's 17 now, a little old man cat. He's gotten skinny, doesn't have the greatest balance or strength anymore, and his hearing and sight aren't what they were. But he wants to be with his people and he still loves his food.

This glorious snake feels insulted. So very NOT basic.

Yesterday I visited Sylvan Heights Bird Park in Scotland Neck, NC. It was my second time there, and just as special as the first visit! This is a flamingo who I think was done with primates for the day.

I'm so excited that there's a native Carolina Mantis on my window! They are smaller than the invasive Asian mantids and their wings are shorter than their abdomens (on the invasive mantids, the wings extend beyond the end of the abdomen). #Nativeplants bring great #inverts!

Lap quilt top is done! This is the second of three for my kids for Christmas. I found a batik in my stash that I think works well as sashing. This isn't in the range of my usual color palettes, but I like the way it turned out.

Next scrappy lap quilt top in progress. This one has some bird-related prints. My kids love birds!

Newest quilt top finished! I'm trying to finish lap quilts for my kids for Christmas. This is the top for the first of the three.
