Devon, UK based Scuba diver and travel addict with a keen interest in marine conservation and photography (however skills on the latter are amateurish).

Finance person, wife and dog mum.

So, little bit about me. Keen #scubadiver who loves to #travel and see the world. Keen on marine conservation and biodiversity. Had I followed my heart I’d have trained to be a marine biologist but sold my soul to finance instead.
Trying to plan a dive trip for my 40th with Indonesia leading the pack. However the logistical juggling required to get from one part to another so we can do 1 week in each area is blowing my brain so much I’m now too overwhelmed to book anything and will probably end up staying home! 😂 🦑

Well summer definitely ended this year didn’t it….

This week we’ve had the whole lot of autumn treats and it’s only Tuesday - sun, cloud, rain, hail and thunder & lightning.

“What you doing?”

Curious duck investigating me and my camera in Newquay last week.

📢 This #WorldOceanDay we're DEMANDING action from govt: BAN bottom trawling in protected areas! 🌊🪸

It’s World Ocean Day!

Here’s a reminder that 70% of our world is ocean, most of it not yet explored. In the areas that are often visited there is plenty of evidence that, even without seeing it all, it’s worth protecting.

The ocean… 🌊💙

sustains life,
regulates climate,
hosts biodiversity,
buffers storms,
produces oxygen,
holds untold wonder.

Yet, we’ve polluted its depths and pushed it to the brink.

On #WorldOceanDay and every day, let’s act to #SaveOurOcean.

As it’s national ocean month I’d be remiss to not share some more photos.

For the sake of conservation and the possibility it’s still there I won’t share location on this one but to say there was happy dancing on finding this is an understatement #marinelife 🦑 #scuba #underwaterphotography #travel

Home from an awesome trip to Malta and more learning curves with the camera set up.

Sharing one of my fave photos from the trip.

While #marinelife is still a little sparse in Malta, it’s good to see some changes being put into limit over tourism.

Late post this week thanks to being on day 4 of suspected food poisoning from a Dominos Pizza…

A little moray eel peeking out from below some interesting corals.

The eyes remind me of the googly eye often used on objects for comedic effect 😂

Anyone else feel like, that between the UK and US, we somehow stepped into an episode of black mirror?

A weird looking little fella for this week. I almost missed him as his shell was so well disguised in with the surrounding area. It was the yellow and blue flashes that caught my eye.

About 4 years ago I had an idea to mount my awesome dive map onto a magnet board surrounded by magnets from our dive holidays. Today I made it a reality and realised I need more holidays 🤣

7 destinations in 7.5 years! Hopefully more to come!

Back to the sea slugs this week with a lovely Phyllidia varicosa

This seemed to be the most common of the Nudi’s that were present in the Similan and Surin area of Thailand.

It’s only when we finally get a sunny day that I realise how much the shorter days and damp British weather affects my moods. So nice seeing the sunshine again!

I’d never seen a cowrie shell that wasn’t a decorative item so I may have got a little excited when I spotted this tucked in the rocks on a slope, especially when I realised they’re actually naturally shiny! 🤣

I don’t know if anything was living inside as I didn’t dare disturb it 🦑

This weeks picture is probably only one creature higher than the goby on annoying things to try to capture! Its uncanny ability to disappear is as incredible to see as frustrating to photograph!

I present the Christmas tree worm.

Forgot to share yesterday, so here’s this weeks picture a day late. Another for the #nudibranch collection. This was only about 1cm long!!!

Unfortunately I’ve been unsuccessful in identifying the species of this one.

#bluesky Community. I need a little dopamine boost after some crappy news about impending restructures and redundancies at the end of Q1 and the outlook of the UK jobs market being a bit crap.

Show me your photos of #pets #favouritethings #marinelife #nature, anything that makes you happy.

In light of the news about the mass bleaching events that have been seen during this extremely harsh El Niño period I thought I’d share a more happier reef health picture taken around Richelieu rock.

And the outcome of the autumn budget are now starting to be realised. It was always going to end with roles being cut to close the gap on 2024 vs 2025 payroll bill. I just wonder now how deep the cuts will go.
