I’m not into hard enough science to guarantee job prospects (Medicine, civic/mech/elec. Engineering, IT, Cybersecurity, Actuarial Science), but I’m also not soft enough to forgive myself the mistakes and sacrifices along the way 😪

I chose to do a STEM bachelors as I thought it would improve my job prospects
- couldn’t get a job in my field ended up in unregulated pseudo education
Chose to do a masters in STEM because it couldn’t hurt
-2 yrs on still no job in my field + hiring freezes + economy bad

Now what?

Feels like the US has spent the last 5+ years on the verge of some kind of secular moral revival that keeps getting channeled into weirdo lifestyle puritanism
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

Laughing at Donald Trump saying he'd definitely feel comfortable living in Zohran Mamdani's New York on the same day that half the consultant brain-poisoned Democratic party voted to condemn socialism

A party that couldn't endorse Mamdani. . . has room for Marjorie Taylor Greene

The party can burn in hell
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

Still trying to find a networking phrasing of “yeah so I have no career direction because despite having 2 degrees I’ve been rejected from roles I am qualified for across 2-3 industries now and has no idea what to pivot to or how to change that”

Unfortunately I have not had a salient thought in days perhaps weeks

Trying to make new friends unemployed is so 🥴. Like yes, I have an advanced degree, no it does not seem to help my employability at all. Oh, I actually have less of an idea of what career I would like to do than ever before in my life. Please don’t ask me how many applications I’ve sent I will cry.

After five years living in the EU I’d safely posit that the relative dearth of investment into social services and community wellbeing in the USA leads to the deterioration of the social contract because why would people buy in for no guaranteed benefit?

Hubs been in construction for 35 years. I can say ive never seen a project move this fast. Where is oversight? Where is the historical review? I can't see any other time a project like this could get thru all the red tape this fast.
Where the hell is CONGRESS?!!

I’m going to get such good vocab from the German think pieces that are probably being written about Elon’s salute through the lens of unified Germany and that being forbidden here (StGB 86a)

So I’m talking to a guy about how I’ve read 45 books and counting this year and he was like “oh I’ve read 6” and asked for a rec. His response to my rec was “thanks I’ve never heard of that one”. Buddy the tonnage of books I could have suggested that you haven’t heard of could stun an Ox calm down
