Bluesky moderation settings has a bunch of other toggles in there, too, that are worth reviewing
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

This. Rep.-elect Grijalva also told me this in an interview about a week ago. It would take an act of Congress to allow someone else to swear her in, she told me.
Widespread idea that Grijalva can simply be sworn in by a random judge or whoever, like VPs becoming president have sometimes. That is not true. It has to be the speaker and it has to happen in the House, unless the House itself gives special dispensation otherwise.

Who may swear in Representatives-elect?
It's not who some so-called legal experts claim

This is the worst. Still won’t root for the Dodgers. No more baseball for me until pitchers and catchers report in 2026
The Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake World Series oh my GOD.

It’s not the NHL season until there’s a questionable goalie interference call
Sanheim did skate through the crease (barely), but my thought was that Andersen initiated the contact and that would supersede it. I guess they ruled going through the crease matters more.

Being a Flyers fan means getting very excited when they get one point out of team that should have wrecked them

As the first pro team I ever saw play in person, the Mariners will always be near to my heart. When I was in preschool, my mom used to take me to weekday matinee games after school. I love this so much for them

What even is this game? It was tied when the Aces won. I watched the trophy presentation. I stayed until the ushers started kicking us out. I walked home. I ate dinner. I ate dessert.
And the game is still tied.
Mariners why are you like this

I’ve only been watching this Mariners game since getting after watching the Aces win the WNBA title, and it’s still taking years off my life

Happy NHL opening night to all that celebrate (me, I celebrate).
I’m now officially Busy Watching Hockey until the end of June. (And yelling at my fantasy roster until March)

Ouch, a direct hit
we need a word for a type of person who spends all their time working to live in a city so they can be near cool things, but they don't actually like going out

It's not dying, it's fragmenting. I doubt we will see social media in the sense of a 'global town square' again in our lifetimes. We are returning to Web 1.0--forums, Discord, subreddits, invite-only FB groups etc. For marketing purposes, it's an entirely different landscape.
But is social media really dying? It seems more like wishful thinking than anything (though I'd love to be proven wrong!)

This is also true for journalism.
In all seriousness, publishers are going to have to figure out how to market books in the post-social-media landscape. That should be an implicit part of their job. What authors/artists can do on their own is increasingly limited and siloed.

I can’t say enough about how important Jen’s reporting has been for Arizona. Definitely a loss, but I’m sure she’s on to more great things
Some personal news. Tomorrow is my last day at Votebeat. I will miss it here so much. I also can't wait to tell you soon where I'm going next.
