Hello, hello! I’m a queer, GNC, fat artist and educator in Arizona. I love making and reading zines, learning new info and skills, and connecting with humans and the natural world. Please say hi! I love new friends.
Alright. Time to have some tea and some of my little herbal calm-down potion thing. And time to make some art.

600 ICE agents were supposed to be deployed to Canal Street. Hundreds of New Yorkers gathered instead.

Quick summary by me:

Reminder: you don't have to engage with AI as an instructor. You can talk about AI--even build AI literacy, if you want to call it that--and still not engage directly with a brutal, unethical, ecologically disastrous bundle of technologies. Regardless of institutional pressure, you can refuse.

I fully believe that we can build better futures. In this moment, though, I’m feeling tremendous grief and fear for the suffering and loss that comes with the exchange of power and the dissolution of ruling bodies.

And I swear, once again, this is not dunking on kids. We are seeing this at all levels--even grad students. AI + social media has had a profound impact on how we think and process our world, and we can't stop to reflect on it, because billionaires keep hurling addictive tech at us.

I have so many thoughts on this whole thread but I need to sort through them. We have such incredible trauma and fatigue. Such information overload and more knowledge of the global suffering at play. Our country’s complicity in and perpetration of that suffering. Many people are so shut down
It's like they just keep...forgetting? Or they read the instructions and completely disregard them, even knowing that they can't pass the assignment without demonstrating really clear skills (citing material, writing on a course text, etc.). They just...don't do it. And don't seem to care.

At the hospital with Ma, waiting on them to order a bunch of bloodwork and tests. She’s had shortness of breath, but she’s stable. It’s always a circus navigating long COVID and dysautonomia discussions w staff, largely bc they can have poor reactions. At least we were lauded for typing up a page

I was just talking about this with my mom, who’s suffering with moderate-to-severe LC. I’m looking forward to reading this and sharing w her.

These guys are great! I donate every year and may I suggest that some of the crafts they sell on behalf of the elders make great Christmas presents?
Time once again to rep my favorite place for giving: anelder.org - they supply food, firewood and supplies for traditional crafting to Navajo Elders. If you have the cash, please give these folks a hand.

I will forever beat this drum!!! It’s genuinely one of many reasons I quit my last job. They were entirely unwilling to improve HVAC filtration and indoor air quality for myself and my students.
If I were an employer, I'd measure and graph CO₂ levels in the workplace. If levels were above 800, I'd prioritize HVAC upgrades over every other workplace investment, and I'd get CO₂ below 800 during work hours.

My employees would be healthier and more productive. It's just good business.

Did a little photo shoot with the bees and the fairy duster plant! I got the pillbox hat at a vintage shop the other week and this is its debut.

A Tribute to an Oracle, Alice Wong
Alice had the ability to look to the future and a world where laws and attitudes did not keep disabled people poor, pitied, and isolated.

Climate data and literacy are necessary for making informed decisions as we adapt to a shifting climate.

Educators should use these databases and visualization tools to engage students in justice-centered, place-based investigations of climate and environmental phenomena.

Rewatching series 14 of TM and I forgot just how pathetic and maudlin old Kearnsey is. I’m absolutely obsessed with this wet dog of a man. Sarah and Munya are absolute delights. I feel humongous kinship with Fern.
