I'm proud I don't have Andrew Cuomo's record of corruption, scandal and disgrace.

And the name is M-A-M-D-A-N-I.

It's almost like we should have never dismantled our public institutions in favor of private citizen billionaires to begin with

7.80 for a 2/3 filled cold brew (that tastes like water) 😭 so that's why they wanted us to Return to Office!

Back in NYC for the day
Me: Wow I do kinda miss living here
Me 30 seconds later, after a man passes me on the sidewalk just to blow cigarette smoke in my face: Oh, right

Cabaret has always been a true artistic masterpiece and human achievement, but this current revival & cast is somehow on another level. Orville Peck and Eva Noblezada, the entire production, the updated second act. I cannot stop thinking about it.

18 years ago I shook Obama's hand...simpler times...also damn I'm old now 🙃

I feel a weird level of guilt that I'm letting my Holocaust survivor ancestors down, in that I'm not able to stop this mess. But they didn't stop their mess either; they survived it. So we gotta just keep surviving and keep causing good trouble and building community wherever we can.

Season 22 of Top Chef and people are STILL making risotto

By complete accident, I came across this email my mom CC'ed me on in November 2008 (days before the election.) It was a response to a chain email accusing Obama of being a "Muslim terrorist." Man, she would have ensured these maga losers didn't know a moment of peace if she were still alive!

In college I (voluntarily 💀) read Atlas Shrugged, where the country's top capitalists disappear and go "on strike" to stick it to all their detractors. The novel presents this as a major blow to humanity, but Ayn Rand failed to consider how utopic that'd truly be 🏝

Why do I spend time in the comment section of our local newspaper futilely explaining to magas that the Constitution applies equally to all people on US soil and not just natural born citizens. It's not even a legal gray area 😭

2025 marks the 20th year I've had a FB account, and 2005 me would have had a really hard time believing that 85% of my feed now is AI-generated interior design images...and that 85% of my interactions are fighting with (probably bot) accounts insisting that they are in fact AI slop. I must stop 😖

That Aerosmith song "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" is me right now, Nessie is snoring and it's the cutest thing ever so I must stay awake.

Chris's dad just moved in with us for hospice care. He can't be left alone at all, so won't be able to leave the house much for the foreseeable future. Time to revive some of those 2020 quarantine hobbies I left behind!! Any recommendations for new ones? 😅

Being the granddaughter of two Holocaust survivors, it's not lost on me how improbable my existence is. So many little (and huge) moments had to work out the way they did in order for my grandma & grandpa to survive. One thing I keep dwelling on is one particular aspect of my grandpa's story --

Masters of War by Bob Dylan hits differently now than when I listened in high school. The lyrics popped in my head today (wonder why) and wow does it hit hard.

It's after midnight I positively cannot stomach any additional posts about dan bongino (to be fair that holds true no matter what time it is)

I usually listen to audiobooks in the shower because this modern world has left me unable to be alone in thought for even 5 minutes, but my current book is "The Death of Democracy: Hitler's Rise to Power and the Downfall of the Weimar Republic" which really makes for rancid shower vibes

Remember the good ol days when we spent our time laughing about JD Vance having sex with a couch, instead of worrying if Kash Patel will round us up as enemies of the state! #throwbackthursday

Me: idk, I feel like the Samuel L. Jackson bits were maybe too heavyhanded, we don’t need the subtext spelled out for us, the audience is smarter than that

Me after reading several insane takes about the halftime show: I think maybe the Samuel L. Jackson bits were not heavyhanded enough

Dump is a lame duck president I sure wish anyone in Congress had the guts to treat him as such. They wouldn't even let Obama confirm a SC judge but this loser is allowed to dismantle whatever he wants and no R even questions it??

Mike Duncan's most recent season of Revolutions - a future historical fiction allegory (?) about the Martian Revolution - is brilliant in so many ways. 10/10 recommendation. It'll make you laugh, sigh, shake your fists, and contemplate how we can avoid a similar fate. It is a true gem.
